Volkswagen Passat TDI

The Volkswagen Passat has been one of the best-selling midsize vehicles since
its introduction. It has an elegant-looking sleek design, good interior space
and top-notch engines. It offers a great variety of trims to choose from, each
with its distinct features that suit best your own lifestyle and your needs. The
Volkswagen Passat TDI's clean-burning and most environment-friendly diesel engine
makes it a good option for many Volkswagen Passat users.
The Volkswagen Passat TDI features Pump Duse injection system that provides more
efficient combustion. This fuel delivery system makes use of cam-driven injectors
to spray diesel into each cylinder many times in each engine revolution and at
such high pressure creating a cleaner and more efficient burn. The Passat TDI
also features a 16-valve cylinder head and refined intercooled turbocharger. These
upgrades yield to 134 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and breathtaking 247 lb-ft of torque
at 1,900 rpm. Also available are the turbocharged 4 cylinder engine that generates
170-hp and the V6 2.8 L engine that gives off 190-hp. It has a fuel capacity of
16.4 gal and can drive to 600 miles on a single tank. The 2004 Volkswagen Passat
TDI also comes with filter in the exhaust system that lessens fuel emissions.
The two gas engines are matched with a 5-speed manual transmission. TDI's 2 L
turbocharged 4 cylinder engine comes with the standard 5-speed automatic transmission
with Tiptronic. This semi-automatic transmission holds the gear only for a short
time allowing the driver to downshift manually. This car also features Volkswagen's
Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP), which helps the car stay on the right
track. The ESP uses sensors and the ABS system to measure the driver's input and
traction.
