Volkswagen Passat Performance Part
Driving impressions on Volkswagen Passat have always been good. When it comes
to performance, it always stands out among cars of its class. The Passat boasts
of a powerful engine line-up, which includes the 1.8T, 4 cylinder, in-line, 5V,
turbocharged gas engine that delivers 170 horsepower and 166 lbs-ft of torque;
the 2.0L TDI-PD 4 cylinder, in-line, 2V, turbocharged, direct injection diesel
engine that generates 134 horsepower and huge amount of 247 lbs-ft torque; and
the 2.8L, 6 cylinder, 90? V, 5V, gas engine that gives off 190 horsepower and
206 lbs-ft torque.

Complementing the engine line-up is a five-speed manual transmission or five-speed
manual transmission with Tiptronic. The engine and transmission matches provide
for the incredibly smooth and quiet drive along the highway and curves. Critics
say that the 1.8 T engine works best with the manual transmission while the V6
engine with an automatic transmission. The GLX and the GLS V6 engines, matched
with automatic transmission provide throttle response and quick acceleration performance.
The GLS mounted with a V6 engine moves from 0 to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds while the
GLS mounted with a 1.8 T engine takes 7.9 seconds. Both have five-speed manual
transmission. The V6 engines have higher torque output, offering more secure drive.
Suspension available are: front four link suspension for minimized torque steering
with coil spring/shock absorber, stabilizer bar; independent torsion beam rear
axle with trailing arms, coil springs, telescopic shock absorbers, stabilizer
bar; and rear fully independent double wishbone suspension coil springs, telescopic
shock absorbers and stabilizer. An optional all-wheel drive system is available
for the Volkswagen Passat. This maximizes traction and keeps the vehicle at ease
in different driving conditions. Other performance parts featured on the Volkswagen
Passat include: power assisted rack and pinion steering, 5-spoke 16" wheels that
make turning more precise.
